EURO heavyweights go head-to-head
The World champions start their EURO 2008 campaign against the mighty Dutch in what might be described as the first big heavyweight match of the tournament. I'm backing two teams in this tournament, one would be the Spainish team, as they have Liverpool's Pepe Reina, Alvaro Arbeloa, Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres in their squad. While my other favourite team to win this tournament is the orange team of Holland! Nothing in particular, I just love their jersey... i think it's awesome! Though my expectation for Holland has dampered somewhat as Ryan Babel will not participate in the tournament due to an injury. At least there'll be Sneijder and Van der Vaart to look forward to, products from the Ajax academy.
Both teams are missing key players ahead of this tie as Babel and Robben are out through injury while Van Persie is nursing a thigh problem. Italy, on the other hand, are missing their World Cup winning captain (Shenaniganz' favourite player *rolls eyes*), Fabio Cannavaro. So who will win this match? My prediction is that the Dutch will win 2-1!
Oh yeah i forgot to mention that Holland have not beaten Italy for 30 years ^_^
Did you know? Indonesia once played in the World Cup way back then... however they were called the "East Indies" and comprised mostly of the Dutch who were stationed in Indonesia.
